About Our Massage Therapists

Terry Chretien Originally from RI, but ensconced in Caribbean living since 1994, Terry Chretien fell in love with the climate and people here during her first visit in 1988.

Her education and flexibility have allowed her to explore many employment opportunities in the Caribbean. She has worked for a construction company, taught High School Science and worked as crew member on a day sailing catamaran. She has worked in a boutique and managed a bookstore, tended bar, waited tables, delivered magazines, cleaned houses and has done data entry for a realtor and a hotel. Many of these positions were simultaneous as she was raising her daughter and running a personal chef service and massage therapy company.

Terry studied massage at the Acupressure Institute in Berkeley, CA and with the Myotherapy Institute in Salt Lake City, UT. She started massaging St. Croix residents and visitors in 1997, and to this day loves her work and appreciates every client! For two years running, 2013 and 2014, Terry has been voted “Best Massage Therapist” on St. Croix.

MichaelwBear.900A therapist in the Caribbean since 1998, Michael Dance first landed in St. Thomas, where he provided massage and spa services at two premier resorts and massages at a local acupuncture clinic. He relocated to St. Croix in 2001 to open and manage The Buccaneer Hideaway Spa. Four years later he merged his outcall spa service with wife Terry’s Ambrosia Body Care. In 2011, Michael and Terry took a brief Saba-tical, establishing a small day spa in the Dutch Caribbean. Returning to St. Croix in 2012, they re-branded their signature outcall and “On-the-Beach” massage service, Beach Massage & Bodywork Delivered.

Prior to entering a career in the spa industry, Michael lived and worked abroad in Moscow, Russia, managing a restaurant and an international long-distance telephone service. Upon returning to the US, Michael worked for Awakening Spirit Massage School in Salt Lake City Utah, managing IT, publishing and marketing. During this time he also spent two years as a member of the board, completed the school’s 9 month intensive massage training course, and continuing education in Advanced Oriental Bodywork. Michael continues to expand his bodywork repertoire with online and CE courses.

When they are not providing relaxing massage, Terry and Michael are busy devoting time to local environmental and animal care efforts. They have worked with endangered sea turtles, planted countless tropical flowers and trees, and rescued many many stray island dogs and cats. Most recently, Terry and Michael have founded the non-profit Healing Paws Sanctuary, Inc., and are working with a few other dedicated island animal lovers to build and open this No Kill haven for St. Croix’s homeless companion animals.
